For five years, Dexter made sure to take notes knowing, that someday
she would write and publish his incredible story. Eddie is pictured here recovering from one of the most outlandish injuries the author had ever witnessed a dog endure. This unique story about a very special dog will surprise you over and over.

Stacey Dexter is a nonfiction writer, musician/singer/songwriter, and lifelong journal writer. In Eddie: One Dog’s Journey from Hobo to a Home, Dexter chronicles her outrageous experiences with a homeless dog that she adopted in the mid-late 1990’s. She eventually became an advocate for, and adopted, retired racing greyhounds— her love for all dogs continuing and growing throughout her life.
In 2013, after a series of traumatic events, Dexter was completely debilitated and diagnosed with refractory MDD (Major Depressive Disorder), anxiety, and PTSD. Through intensive counseling and support, she eventually was able to continue writing, though at a slower pace than in her previous workaholic life. The photos and extensive notes that she had kept for over twenty years about Eddie was the jumping off point that took her down the path of writing his story. It took her eight years.
Dexter grew up working in her family’s successful restaurant business; became a mother to her precious daughter, Sam; received her Associate in Science degree in Radiologic Technology and obtained certification as a Massage Therapist. She worked as an X-Ray Technologist for over two decades before going back into the hospitality business.
Dexter is also a trained pianist and vocalist, studying for over 12 years with amazingly talented teachers. Her training provided her with the abilities to have a creative life as a professional vocalist— performing live and recording original material for over 30 years.
Her years of writing and recording produced a song awarded an Honorable Mention from the Billboard Songwriters Contest in 2009.
This is her first book.
THE MIDNIGHT GAMBLERS
60's-70's Rock and Pop
The first working band I was in when I was a sophomore in high school. I was the keyboard player and back-up singer. We played five nights a week, Wednesdays-Sundays. Artie in the middle was our "Roger Daltry" so I wasn't allowed to sing lead. The girls LOVED him.

70's Rock
"The band with two f's and two x's."
Now in junior in high school and the lead singer.
Originally called Anesthesia (after my full name, Anastasia) with the tagline: "The band that really knocks you out!" This was abandoned after none of the club owners could spell it for the marquee...
